EuCliDŽ is a clinical database designed by Fresenius Medical Care to monitor the key aspects of the haemodialysis treatment and has been operating since 1999.
At the end of 2005, EuCliDŽ was in operation in approximately 250 centres in 11 European countries and has collected data from the treatment of more than 30,000 patients.
It is of paramount importance to plan and develop such a collection of clinical data. With the help of EuCliDŽ the user is able to sample clinical data, identify problems and search for solutions, with the aim of increasing and guaranteeing high-level dialysis treatment quality for all patients.
When your details are entered onto the database, your name is automatically given a coded number, which is only identifiable by your dialysis centre.
To ensure your privacy rights, information on the database is only sent to Clinical Management Europe (CME), based at Fresenius Medical Care headquarters in Germany, if you give your consent.
No one in CME who looks at this database is able to identify you. Clinical Management Europe can also compare and verify results from Fresenius Medical Care dialysis centres against internal and external benchmarks.
EuCliDŽ also allows comparison of outcomes with the European Best Practice Guidelines, thus giving precise information on performance. The quality of the data is of fundamental importance, not only in Clinical Trials, but also in Observational Studies.
In the past six years, with the help of EuCliDŽ data, many award-winning scientific clinical papers have been published by international independent organisations such as European Dialysis and Transplant Association (EDTA) and other national nephrology associations.
Clinical Management Europe, committed to the continuous improvement of treatment quality and patient safety in the European Dialysis Network, reviews all the information and sends regular reports to the centre managers.
This allows the manager to compare the quality of treatment in the unit with that of other units in Europe.
